Dishwasher Capacity: Where Does Miele Rank?
Posted on December 3, 2009

One of the questions people often ask when purchasing a new dishwasher is: Which one holds the most dishes?
A brand that tends to draw a lot of interest is Miele, although one of the questions frequently asked is does the top cutlery tray truly save that much space inside a dishwasher? Do I have to strategically place each piece of silverware in there each time I do dishes?
The answer to the first question is it absolutely saves a ton of space, allowing you the ability to utilize the entire wash basket. As for whether or not you have to be meticulous with each piece of silverware you place into that tray, the anwer is definitely not. If you don’t have a large amount of silver ware, you can simply drop it anywhere into the tray as long as they’re spaced out and not right on top of eachother. There is a spray arm that spans the full width of the tray above it which will get your silverware clean. However, if you have a large amount of silverware, it is recommended that you do take the time so that all of it fits and that it will clean properly.
Some wonder when they look at a Miele dishwasher if they’re even big enough, because at first glance they don’t seem to hold very much as compared to some of the other brands. This video shows the capacity of a Miele Dishwasher compared to two other brands (Bosch & KitchenAid – in that order, although the original author of this video doesn’t mention them by name). It certainly surprised me, but you’ll have to believe your eyes, as there doesn’t seem to be any digital trickery going on here:

Quick Review: Samsung WF448AAP Front Loading Washer

As a top rated machine by a leading consumer magazine, the Samsung WF448AAP front loading washing machine is certainly impressive and is now currently on display here in our showroom.
The machine (on display in stainless steel) is beautful, with a very user friendly control panel and a lot of great features. One key feature worth mentioning is the machine’s Vibration Reduction Technology (VRT) which automatically compensates for imbalance in the drum and eliminates the vibration during the machine’s final spin (1300 RPM).
We took off one of the legs, and inserted a telephone book into the machine and put it into the “spin” mode. At first it began to rock back and forth, and within seconds steadied itself and was as quiet as can be – which was pretty amazing. With only three legs sitting on the floor there is no way it shouldn’t have been rocking all over the place – yet it held up just fine.
Another feature worth discussing is the machine’s use of its “Silver Care”, which uses actual silver to sanitize your clothing in cold water. Deep within the machine is a strip of silver (about the size of a stick of chewing gum) that the machine draws from to add a microscopic amount of silver to the water to get rid of bacteria. It’s completely safe and environmentally friendly, and as a matter of fact it’s so safe that doctors even use silver nitrate eye drops to kill bacteria in the eyes of newborn babies. Another interesting use you may have been unaware of: many sports garments now even have strands of silver within the clothing to eliminate the bacteria that causes body odor.
Here’s an interesting video on it from a couple of years ago that explains this extremely well:
This technology is growing quickly, and for now Samsung is a leader and offering a pretty amazing machine that is obviously being well received both in publications and by consumers who are purchasing their appliances and electronics. Be sure to come in today for a demonstration.
