Anyone who has seen previous versions of the XBR LCD line will probably tell you that they didn't think Sony could improve on a television that was already crystal clear, with outstanding detail and clarity.
Well it's been done.
Sony's new 40" KDL40XBR7 Full HD 1080p LCD television has raised the bar yet again, with deep black levels and refined colors which produce a picture that's so realistic that you may find yourself forgetting you're watching a TV. Sony's Live Color Creation technology does a great job of balancing the televisions vast palette of colors, while the Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) circuit dynamically adjusts the contrast and gives you the deep rich blacks that most LCD models struggle with. The detail normally lost during dark scenes is clear and crisp, while bright scenes aren't washed out and whites are smooth.
The television by itself is beautiful, with a glass frame separating the speakers from the black frame around the television, making it appear that it's floating on your wall. The controls are hidden on the front of the television when not in use, and a simple touch on the lower right illuminates them. The inputs on this television are also plentiful, with 3-rear HDMI™ inputs, along with 2-rear component inputs, a PC and Ethernet connection, and a digital media port.
If you own a Blu-ray Disc™ player, one big benefit of this television is the 24p True Cinema™ function that this television employs. What this does is allow you to view films at their intended 24 fps (frames per second), which will make you feel like you're watching a live action broadcast instead of a movie. This effect is something that is very difficult to put into words and really needs to be seen, and we have this set hooked up to a Blu-ray Disc™ player for you to experience it for yourself to see first hand. It's pretty amazing.
Should you own other Sony home theater products, the television also has Sony's BRAVIA® Sync, which integrates it seamlessly with your other Sony products and simplifies the remote control functions. Want to view photos on your television? Sony also thought of that as well, adding the "PhotoTV HD" function which fine tunes settings on the television such as sharpness, gradation and color which will display your images to more closely match the look of printed photographs.
So if you've decided that it's time for a big upgrade and are looking for one of the most realistic pictures you've ever seen, this is definitely the television you've been looking for. If you haven't been in for a while and are in the market for a new LCD TV, you'll definitely want to take a moment when you come in to see what this television has to offer. Be sure to also have one of our salespeople show you a demo of this television with a Blu-Ray Disc™, so you can see how amazing movies can really look. Who knows, you may end up leaving with one of those as well.
